A brief history of PhyBill, Inc.
- As the administrator of a statewide behavioral health organization headquartered in Miami, Mr. Alan Duretz was responsible for all day-to-day non-clinical activities.
- Owing to his dissatisfaction with the billing company, he embarked on setting up an internal effort from scratch.
- In 1992 he was approached by other statewide groups in both behavioral, and other disciplines, to assume their claims processing activities, and that was the beginning of PhyBill, Inc.
- In 1996 Alan became the President and co-owner of the behavioral group, and in 1998 he became the sole owner.
- Shortly after he spun off the billing company and incorporated it as PhyBill, Inc.

A brief history of PsyNote®
- Our team began a rough sketch of an EMR designed for the psychotherapy provider in 2005. Later we reviewed the design schematic with the compliance staff at one of the largest Medicare Part B carriers.
- After a positive review, we formed a team of 3 psychologists, 2 programmers, and Mr. Duretz as the overall designer and compliance specialist. His one overriding rule was KISS and make it flow the same as the LCD/NCD CMS polices. OK, that’s two rules, forgive us.
- In 2006, PsyNote® deployed the first (beta) locally installed version of PsyNote® EMR. A few years later, we initiated research on transitioning to the cloud.
- With the design and engineering for the cloud version completed, our team selected Microsoft Azure as the host in 2011 and then started the testing phase of the cloud version.
- In 2014, we deployed the first users of the cloud version.
- Finally, all remaining users from the old local version were integrated into the new cloud application.
